So I researched a bit, and my conclusion is that there is no way to pass my host GPU through to the guest VM using VMWare Workstation. That leads to issues when running GPU intensive applications obviously. The one limitation that I've run into is that I can't pass my GPU on my host through to the guest VM, so any graphical stuff on the VM is handled by my CPU.
